OUR PROJECTS

The Shakers New Facility Project is the next step in creating a permanent home for community, culture, and connection. Designed as a welcoming, accessible space for seniors and intergenerational gatherings, the facility will serve as a hub for storytelling, wellness, creativity, and shared learning rooted in the Afro-diasporic experience.

 

This space will host regular community gatherings, cultural and poetry circles, nutrition and wellness conversations, tea tastings, special events, and guest speakers—preserving lived wisdom while strengthening social bonds. The facility is envisioned as a place of dignity and joy, where elders are centered, voices are honored, and belonging is felt the moment you walk through the door.

The project is supported through community fundraising, partnerships, and shared stewardship. Its purpose is simple and enduring: to create a space where stories are kept alive, relationships are nurtured, and life continues to be lived—fully, proudly, and together.
