ABOUT SHAKERS SENIORS MEET UP

Shakers Seniors Meet Up is a group of seniors grounded in Afro-Canadian history, leadership, and shared experience. Founded in 2019 to share stories, celebrate who we are, reconnect, and forge new friendships, while reducing isolation and preserving the rich history of Toronto’s Bloor–Bathurst neighbourhood.

The Shakers Seniors represent people of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, united by resilience, culture, and a commitment to staying active, empowered and engaged. We are on the move, shaking up our lives with purpose and intention to keep seniors active at every stage of their lives.

Led, guided and supported by a committed committee, together we bring seniors to engage, learn, create, and support one another. Through our experiences, history, culture, and collective wisdom, we nurture and encourage meaningful, respectful, and positive engagement and conversations to stay connected.

Our partnerships and community collaborations strengthen and uplift us through ongoing education, dialogue, and shared experiences recognizing that our journey adds value to one another.
